2002 Dive Ocean

“After our inaugural Sea on the sea @ Pier 35, it became evident that we’d caused TOO big a splash in the fisheyes of the Port Authority. Fortunately, we fell head over heels in love with The Regency Ballroom and its historically magnificent, jaw-dropping 3rd floor “Red Room”, formally a Mason’s Lodge. For the dawn of 2002, we introduced the theme “Dive Ocean”, riffing on the spiritual pun of “devotion”. Playful lingo + a sultry sea waif would forever after play a part in our SOD promo design, but this was the very first, designed by Steve Postman of Cosmic Tarot Deck fame.

Being the tribal desert dwellers that we were/are, who gleaned inspiration from the art of big brother, Burning Man and it’s theme camp creations, we once again employed our “sure to sell out” Lost At Last family, while deciding to take a risk and add this new, up-and-coming DJ by the name of “Lorin” to the bill (aka Bassnectar Thump). 2002 represented yet another first, when Sea of Dreams began creating multi-room environments with names like Dreamlandia, Aquamer’e, & Hall of Oceans, and thus, the stage was set for many more midnight miracles to erupt from simultaneous chasms as the new millennium blossomed into creation!”
