Sea of Dreams NYE
Sea of Dreams NYE
For the past 13 years, Sea of Dreams has been San Francisco’s most creative, spectacular, and lavish New Years event. Created by anonEvents, and co-produced by SunsetSF and now with Another Planet Entertainment, the 2013 edition will be the most spectacular rendition to date. Over the years, Anon has made Sea of Dreams the perfect connection of high-end talent, top-tier performance-art and decor with underground energy. Drawing much of its inspiration from the Burning Man community, the vast majority of the audience comes in costume and the entire venue is crammed with art of all kinds. Past acts that have performed the event include The Glitch Mob, Santigold, Bassnectar, Gogol Bordello, String Cheese Incident, STS9, Ozomatli, Shpongle, Ghostland Observatory, Trentemoller, Amon Tobin ISAM, Balkan Beat Box, the Yard Dogs Road Show, Modeselektor, The Dresden Dolls, Kinky, Brazillian Girls, Adam Freeland, Tipper, Random Rab, Freq Nasty.
Santigold
Santigold
Santigold is a survivor of a half century worth of living along musical evolution’s most cutting edges. The only live act that can boast of having out-aged Barbara Bush, having outlived Mr. Miyagi and out styled Liberace, Santigold is here with future flavor.

Composed of absolutely no members, Santigold is also the first musical outfit capable of claiming the planet’s broiling collective consciousness as their front woman. Longtime collaborator, singer and songwriter Santi White says of her work with Santigold, “We began trying to write pop songs to sell, which made us depressed, so we started writing songs for ourselves instead.”

This is better than good; this is gold— SANTIGOLD
Amon Tobin ISAM Live
Amon Tobin ISAM Live
Brazilian-born Amon Tobin first emerged between 1994-1995 with a string of 12" singles on a small London-based record label called 9Bar Records. The album that followed, 'Adventures In Foam', paved the way for a whole generation of electronic productions and prompted his signing to the prodigious Ninja Tune in 1996. He has since gone on to record seven critically- acclaimed albums under his own name on Ninja that have since helped define the label as a force in musical innovation and diversity.

The depth and scope of Amon Tobin's work have had a far-reaching influence, garnering respect amongst producers and artists both within and outside electronic music. Whether with the classical avant garde Kronos Quartet or D'n'B legends Noisia, or on his own in some invented form, Amon has established a reputation for musical ingenuity that is unconfined by genre. Over a fifteen-year-long career Amon Tobin remains among one of the most visionary electronic artists of a generation.

The 2007 album 'Foley Room' explored the role of found sound in modern day music. Documented on film, the process of recording minute insects to lions, wolves, engines and foley performances culminated in a much- lauded performance at the birthplace of musique concrete, the GRM Theatre in Paris. More recently, the famed London Metropolitan Orchestra performed selected works from a cross-section of his musical repertoire at the Royal Albert Hall. The performance included a piece from his forthcoming studio album due for release in early 2011.
Amon Tobin will release 3 albums in 2011: a radical new studio album entitled 'ISAM', a new Two Fingers album, and an album of remixes of his 'Chaos Theory' soundtrack work.
Beats Antique
Beats Antique
Growing like wildfire under the canopy of live electonica and world roots music comes a masterful merge of modern technology, live instrumentation and seductive performance, built of brass bands and glitch, string quartets and dubstep: the musical trio Beats Antique.
Since the group's inception from the eclectic underground of San Francisco's performance art scene, Beats Antique has been notorious for making it nearly impossible to sit still. They meld their mediums as attentively as they fuse the cultures that inspire their sound. All self produced and composed, the trio creates a unique collage: an animalistic, raw musical event that blurs the lines between the provocative, the spiritual, and the artistic, while still maintaining an allegiance to the muses of class and beauty.

The journey that led to Beats Antique today was a winding and twisted path from the west coast to the ancient trade routes of the silk road. In this modern incarnation, the musical alliance of producers David Satori and Tommy Cappel is inspired and emphasized by their collaborative partnership with world-renowned belly dance performer and music producer Zoe Jakes.

In a prolific 3 years since Beats Antique emerged, the group has released two albums and a pair of EPs, with a third album, Blind Threshold, on the way. Notable features of the new release include vaporous violins and Danny Elfman-esque dementia; glitchy, laser-guided harmonica provided by Blues Traveler frontman John Popper; and two very different vocal tracks that range between restless pop hooks and vibrant Eastern European dance loops. All wrapped into an intricate collection of heavy beats and sub bass.Beats Antique is best imagined as an innovative creature built from the cumulative heritage of the world's music chasing its tail. However vivid that image, when a marching band groove crashes into bluesy folk chords only to be accompanied by electronic beats and Middle Eastern melodies, you'll still be surprised.
Claude VonStroke
Claude VonStroke
Claude VonStroke does not scowl and look mean while he DJs. He does not pretend to know everything and he will be nice to you and your friends. He is grateful to be doing music for a living and he knows that the reason people go to parties is to have fun. If you want to act cool and not have any fun then please do not book him.
The name "Claude VonStroke" was a random joke that caught on after a series of tracks grabbed the attention of underground dance music in 2005. His very first record, "Deep Throat," was an unusually quirky affair that caught fire worldwide and he has been blessed with similar success stories ever since. Claude's real name is Barclay Crenshaw, a guy raised in the suburbs of Detroit who wanted to be a filmmaker but always had a knack for music. After several different film careers of varying success and with some help from his friends, VonStroke started the "dirtybird" label at the very late age of 32. Since 2005, dirtybird has carved out a niche as a premiere American label and has released over 40 EPs. VonStroke has released two artist albums as well as a Fabric mix and over 25 remixes for a wide range of commercial and underground artists from Indy rock group "The Rapture" to Detroit techno legend Kevin Saunderson.

In an effort to give something back to the community VonStroke unveiled a new label "mothership" in 2007. A large percentage of the label's proceeds go to a music school for children in Claude's hometown of Detroit, Michigan. This label features more euro-flavored techno and house featuring groups like Catz ‘n Dogz, Maetrik and Voodeux.

Tour wise, Claude has headlined almost every major club, festival and basement after-party in the world. The outdoor dirtybird parties in San Francisco's scenic Golden Gate Park have also become a legendary summer destination point for both locals and international travelers. But like we said at the start, Claude VonStroke is only coming to see you if you want to enjoy yourself and get sweaty and nasty. If you want to wear a sweater and frown in the VIP section, he is not the right DJ for you.
MarchFourth Marching Band
MarchFourth Marching Band

The sound is huge, melodic, and dynamic, taking audiences on a musical journey around the globe. MarchFourth writes and performs its own material, and also draws inspiration from an eclectic range of worldwide influences, such as Eastern European gypsy brass, samba, latin, funk, afro-beat, big-band, jazz, and rock music, as well as television, film, circus, and vaudeville. An-ten-nae
An-ten-nae
An*ten*nae is one of San Francisco's most sought after DJs and live performers. After years of production ranging from electronica to breaks to dubstep, he has developed his signature "Acid Crunk" sound, currently dominating the west coast. His Mixtapes "Punk Rock Country Hop" and "Acid Crunk" were received with wide acclaim. The original blend of crunked out electro madness and pure dance-floor appeal has pushed the limits of genres and soundsystemsworldwide. An-ten-nae's customized live sets push audiences and electronics to limits seldom seen. An*ten*nae / Adam Ohana has been DJ'ing and producing electronic music for over 15 years. He has toured Mexico, Australia, Africa, Japan, and extensively throughout Europe and North America. On the west coast, he has been an integral part of the evolution of the underground music culture in SF and LA. His "An-ten-nae Presents" brand is responsible for some of the hottest concerts and parties the west coast has ever seen. These event continue to be a major influence on west coast culture.
Diego's Umbrella
Diego's Umbrella
San Francisco's ambassadors of gypsy rock, Diego's Umbrella captures California's cultural multiplicity with enthusiasm, humor and decadence. These urban, gringo mariachis have performed more than 1,000 live shows across the U.S. and Europe. The band's lively, unforgettable, heavy-hitting stage show has visually and aurally captivated diverse audiences from all walks of life. Influenced heavily by flamenco, klezmer, Eastern European and Latin sounds Diego's Umbrella has introduced the world to a new kind of popular music: Gypsy Rock. They possess a pop sensibility and punk rock energy with sounds reminiscent to that of Gogol Bordello, Devotchka and Muse.

While the origins of Diego's Umbrella date back to the 2001, with the collaboration of founding members Vaughn Lindstrom (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Tyson Maulhardt (electric guitar), they officially hit the scene in 2005 with the release of their first full-length album Kung Fu Palace. Violinist Jason Kleinberg and bassist Kevin Blair came on board early in the project, and the 6-some was rounded out by Ben Leon (vocals, guitar) and Jake Wood (drums) in early 2009. The Group has released 3 albums including Viva la Juerga '07, Double Panther '09, and a host of independent recordings. They have been featured in major motion pictures, Network Television, and numerous documentaries, in addition to countless worldwide radio and print. Currently, they are in the studio working on a new EP to be released later this summer. Viva la Juerga!!!
Christian Martin
Christian Martin
Since 1995, Christian Martin has been exploring electronic music from one end of the earth to the other; from full-moon parties in the deserts of California to the thumping, dark corners of the London club scene. Christian followed his love for spleen-rattling bass to San Francisco in 2000, where he met up with the now legendary dirtybird crew. The dirtybird BBQ was the brainchild of the four original members: Christian & his brother Justin Martin, and friends Claude VonStroke and Worthy. They had a personal mission to change the landscape of San Francisco house music by throwing an epic free party in the park, based on their new signature sound.

In 2003, with nothing to lose and everything to gain, Christian bought a massive yet necessary sound system. This set the standard for a new era of die-hard dedicated DIY producers, all with productions based on heavy bass-lines, smiling faces and dance floor delights.

Ten years later the original dirtybird crew remains fully intact and as close knit as ever - traversing the globe, releasing records, and throwing the best parties in their wake.
Worthy
Worthy
When it comes down to all the press and hype, his name says it all. He is Worthy. With an in-depth knowledge of production, mixing, and performance, Worthy has the insight to play for his audience, cultivating intense positive energy on the dance floor that can only be portrayed as superhuman. His sound can be described as organic breakbeats with a mix of future house, 80’s, booty bass, and techno. As Carl Cox said, "The Worthy sound has always been powerful, rocking, funky, bass-driven music at its best, and for me this is the new wave in house music." Worthy has received the recognition of major producers who have played his tracks including Sven Vath, Diplo, and Richie Hawtin, among many.

From salty aired islands to dark club basements, Worthy pays reverence to the traditional form of classic house while tripping off the mark and sinking into the euphoric less-charted territories of booty-clapping bass. Touring the globe, Worthy has performed at renowned venues like Hive in Switzerland, Sankeys in the UK, Electric Pickle in Miami, and Mezzanine in San Francisco. Beloved by his fanatical devotees, Worthy has drawn huge crowds to catch his heart-palpitating, sweat-inducing sets at festivals like Ultra, Love Parade, and Burning Man. In 2011, Urb Magazine named Worthy one of the Top DJ’s To See at Burning Man, along with M.A.N.D.Y., Andy C, Soul Clap, Seth Troxler, and The Crystal Method.

Growing up in Washington DC, Worthy was inspired by the early American rave scene. Upon moving to New York in the late 90’s, he was exposed to artists like LTJ Bukem and Stacey Pullen whose music inspired him to play records across multiple genres, from techno and breaks to hiphop and drum n’ bass. In 2001 he swapped coastlines, moving to San Francisco to pursue his music career. He team up with Claude VonStroke as well as fellow east coast brothers Justin and Christian Martin to create the prodigious outdoor party, Dirtybird, which quickly became an institution and a requisite destination for die-hard Bay Area and international fans. Dirtybird Records hatched from the popularity of these parties in 2005, and since then the label and parties have enjoyed tremendous success fueled by the obsession of their cult following.
J Phlip
J Phlip
J Phlip (pronounced J Flip) known to some as Jessica Phillippe discovered house music in her hometown of Champaign, Illinois, just 2 hours south of Chicago. Sometime around her 19th birthday she got her first DJ rig - two belt drive turntables and a mixer lacking EQ knobs for $100 bucks! From then on, her poor roomates were forced to listen to a constant dance party in-between her Systems Engineering studies. There aren't a lot of 4.0 braniac engineering majors who decide to become DJs instead of cashing in on their degrees but Jessica truly loves the music and has dedicated her life to it. Her proximity to Chicago's famous house scene tremendously affected her sound, but the distance afforded her the freedom to incorporate a variety of other influences into her repertoire. Her sets posses a fun, "lets-not-forget-this-is-dance-music," feeling and simultaneously keep you guessing about what might come next. Her collection spans house, tech house, deep house, techno, booty bass and pretty much anything that make you shake your ass. She's currently a well known DJ/Producer in San Francisco. Her skills on the decks and in the studio have secured her highly desirable spot as an official member of the dirtybird crew. She has a residency at San Francisco's infamous Endup nightclub, which is notorious for its non-stop, never-ending parties. Jessica continues to have new productions coming out on dirtybird where she has signed on as an exclusive original artist. She is currently Claude VonStroke's favorite support DJ and has already played at amazing high profile gigs like Fabric, Space Ibiza & Back to Basics. She was also chosen for URB Magazine's Next 100 of 2009 and had a big year in 2010, spending half of the year in Berlin and Touring Europe. Look out for lil Phlip near you - she WILL be making asses shake on the dancefloor and she's just as excited about it as the day she got her belt drives!
Motion Potion
Motion Potion
MoPo (aka Robbie Kowal) is one of America's most versatile,
experienced and flat-out joyous party rockers. His decade long mission is to 'put the party back into the party', and to connect the casual music fan with the hard core dance music mavens; proving that music is more than just beats. San Francisco's bootleg indie remix partypusher, is known for a rare ability to play exactly the right music for the moment and an expertise with a wide variety of genres that he seamlessly melds into a coherent blend. Since breaking out as a rare groove Dj in the 90's he has spent the 21st Century using eclectic club styles, break beat, trip hop and tech funk as a backdrop for his genrebending experiments. From a near religious love of funk and hip hop, to a lifetime study of rock and roll to a massive aptitude for latin, reggae and other outernational formats, MoPo incorporates bits and pieces of music culture into electronic edits that slam the dancefloor. As a backdrop, he creates, edits or chooses only the biggest baddest breaks, hooks and drops to create a sound that truly slams. To the dancer, MoPo is a breath of fresh air, often transforming a room into collective song or crowd chant that connect the audience to the DJ.

These abilities have seen him preceding, following or tagging with a
who's who of breakbeat heroes like Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Icey, Cut
Chemist, Grandmaster Flash, James Lavelle, Bassnectar, DJ Vadim, Tipper, Kraak & Smaak, Aquasky, Fort Knox 5, Z-trip. He's also been among the first DJs to play many a rock festival including an unprecedented 6-year run at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and the first DJ sets ever at Gathering of the Vibes, High Sierra, Berkfest, Caribbean Holidaze, Mid Atlantic Music Experience, and Rothbury festival. He even played at Govt Mule's legendary "Deepest End" show, called one of the Top 10 shows of the Decade by Jambase. A live turntablist for the indie techno circus The Mutaytor, MoPo has sat in with Parliament-Funkadelic, Galactic, Rebirth Brass Band and BLVD. He has opened for live music legends like James Brown, Maceo Parker, Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, Femi Kuti, Sheryl Crow,
Spearhead, Jurassic 5, Isaac Hayes, Blackalicious, and Pendulum.
Mozaic
Mozaic
After studying sounds and recordings techniques in a musical institute in the South of France specialized in Jazz , Mozaic familiarized himself with studio environment, recording musicians, working in post production projects. Thanks to these experiments, he started his own electronic musical project in 2008.

Today, Mozaic has released EP on various labels such as Resopal Schallware, Mimique Records, DBH Music, Ion Music. He deals with a lot of influences and moods, registering all kinds of sophisticated and hypnotic atmospheres, whether House, Techno or Tech House, as Mozaic focused on the groovy and deep side of electronic music.
DJ Malarkey
DJ Malarkey
Malarkey is an old Irish slang word used in the 1920's as an expression equivalent to jive, gibberish, or nonsense. All guff aside; Patrick Malone (aka DJ Malarkey) is one of the hardest working DJ's to recently emerge out of Sonoma County (North Bay) area. Upon his return to Sebastopol in 2004, having graduated from recording arts school in Los Angles, he quickly jumped back into the club circuit as a full time DJ, engineer & event producer. It didn't take long for his funky broken-beat sound to kick up dust among event crowds, catering to both lounge and dance floors alike. His Juke Joint parties have helped pioneer the alternative dj sounds of "nu-funk", making a huge impact on the dance music scene in the small town of Sebastopol and on the west coast for the past 2 years.
Malarkey has the keen ability to ascend fluidly from an early hour lounge funk, to peak time break beat shakers making him incredibly dynamic on the stage. Knowing when and where to go with the music, his sets are always evolving as a multi-genre melting pot of heavy broken funk, sexy latin shakers, boogie hip hop & banging breaks at all tempos.
Zack Darling
Zack Darling
As long time North SF Bay native event producer and DJ, Zack Darling is well known as a highly effective mover and shaker. His DJ career spans over 20 years and began as a 14 year electro-punk DJ playing late night sessions on public and pirate radio stations in Mendo-fornia. He’s since dropped multi-genre-smackdown beats on night clubs and parties large and small, including Decadance, Space Cowboy’s Unimog, Mystic Beat Lounge’s Techno-Tribal Dance, as well as some of the biggest clubs and dance events in San Francisco, like 1015 Folsom, Temple, Sea of Dreams and Kelly’s Mission Rock and many more. He also regularly plays within the festival circuit, including Burning Man, Burning Man Decompression Street Fair and Harmony Festival. Zack has played every year as a headliner at EarthDance Festival for a decade now, and in 2002 was the first electronic dance music DJ to play the main stage at Reggae on the River where he shocked the Humboldt rasta crowd with nu-skool ragga breaks.

Musically Zack’s style is most difficult to classify as it spans a gamut broader than most dance floor DJs. His mixes are expressions of the alignment between Mashups and bass-heavy dance floor beats. Zack is moving forward into a style where he can follow all of his passions, old and new, merging Breakbeats, House, Dubstep and Mid-Tempo Hip Hop, with Reggae, New Wave, Folk, Funk, Soul and especially classic Rock favorites – remixed, retooled, repurposed for the dance floor. The emerging name for this unique musical flavor of bass-heavy dance floor bootlegs? Mashstep. Recently Zack launched the popular new website www.mashstep.com where fans of this sound explosion can saturate their spirits in bass-heavy dancefloor mashup wompers.

Zack continues to feed the flames of the music community through his event production efforts. He is the lead producer of the Mystic Beat Lounge Techno-Tribal Dance, Associate Producer of Harmony Festival, North Bay Burning Man Regional Contact and co-founder of the cult-following nightclub event, Decadance. He produces many of the graphic art, posters and websites for the Northern California concert and festival industry via his Santa Rosa based company, Zack Darling Creative Associates which also serves as a central point for his event production endeavors.
