This year, SEA OF DREAMS celebrates its ELEVENTH YEAR as the Bay Area's most unique & diverse New Year's spectacle.

Our theme this year is "GalaxSea"- the crowning spiral that surrounds and sustains all of our lives and dreams. At some deep level we are each astral bodies that exist in larger sea of other astral bodies. Our pull and pur influence is felt across the whole solar system and beyond. In a kind of memorial to Benoit Mandlebrot, the father of Fractal Geometry, the GalaxSea is also the recursive world of patterned forms that spin and iterate in scale and reach from the smallest to the grandest and from the closest to the most distant.

SEA OF DREAMS 2011 will be our ode to the infinite..our art circus symphony of mysteries.

So, from where was the original fractal from SEA OF DREAMS spawned?

SEA OF DREAMS was launched in 2001 by ANON  SALON co-founders, JOEGH BULLOCK, MARCIA CROSBY and MARK PETRAKIS. In that time, it has moved from Pier 35 to the stately Regency Center and then in 2006 to its present home at the epic SF Concourse Exhibition Center. Always a collaborative effort, the founding spirit has always tried to reach out to other forward thinking collectives. The list of those collaborators is long and bejeweled with giant spirits.

This year marks the largest aggregation of powerful producing organizations ever. For the 11th anniversary, SEA OF DREAMS has gathered “the community” to help assemble the community. Returning from last year is the high-energy hit sqaud production team from SUNSET PROMOTIONS. In addition, returning to the mix will be ANT-EN-NAE PRESENTS, a 10-year veteran of Bay Area dance music productions, including the well-regarded Get Freaky parties. Also joining us will be Bay Area and Burning Man giants, OPULENT TEMPLE AND OPEL PRODCUTIONS, world-music scene-makers HOOKAHDOME and several other major contributing organizations still to be announced.

Born in an innovative merger of art and theater, ANON SALON has been among the most active builders of “artful” community since the mid-1980s. They were part of the nascent BURNING MAN ethos and community even before the first man burned. Founders of CLIMATE THEATER and GLASHAUS parties, as well as the infamous COBRA LOUNGE art vaudevilles. Each year's SEA OF DREAMS is another step along the way towards realizing more concretely the bold and transforming power of our own special Bay Area species of collaborative activists.

As you approach SEA OF DREAMS this year, it might be worth a moment to reflect on just how much giving has to occur before such incredible and luminous gifts as these can be won, and just how many courageous Bay Area people - just like yourself, had to walk that sometimes daunting path before you, so that you could do exactly what you are about to do this New Year’s Eve. This is the GalaxSea that we all share, and must all work to preserve.

We are on the cusp of great and global changes. No one can predict what awaits us next year or even tomorrow. But you have only to look around you to see that we have each been given a great gift; a great freedom and a great sense of purpose and possibility. Join us then in dreaming the unimaginable tomorrow. We invite you to dive into "our" SEA OF DREAMS so that you might discover "your own." Looking towards tomorrow, all we can do is keep giving of ourselves, and work as ONE to see that whatever magic we conjure and draw from the collective ocean of our dreams is the very best we are capable of giving.
