The Dreamtime Circus Calypso, Chris Dunn, and Summer Bowie The Dreamtime Circus, a non-profit organization, is an ensemble of professionals which specializes in doing international outreach tours to bring free circus shows and workshops to disadvantaged children. The Dreamtime Circus creates community and empowerment through circus arts in San Francisco and abroad. Here in their hometown of San Francisco, they produce full-scale theatrical circus productions, host riveting cabaret variety shows, and partner with local performers and organizations in order to bring joy to the people, generate opportunities for performers in the arts, and fund raise for their outreach circus-for-children tours. In 2007, The Dreamtime Circus toured India, where they put on over 40 free shows and workshops and collaborated with 15 local NGO's and 20 different schools and orphanages. This spring The Dreamtime Circus will embark on a journey to Peru, where they will dreamweave with those who they encounter by sharing the skills of circus and the magic of performance with children and communities. In Peru, they will collaborate with local organizations such as El Refugio de Esperanza (The Refuge of Hope) in Pucallpa, a school and rehabilition center for children and adults with disabilities; Mama Kia’s Casa de Milagros, an orphanage in Cuzco; and, CEDRO, a nonprofit in Lima that runs three group homes for underprivileged children and children who have lived on the street.
